MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Tax Manager, on a part time basis (4 days per week), for a collaborative and values-led business that’s a household name in the local area. This role is based out of their office in Ipswich and offers a hybrid working pattern. As a Tax Manager you will take ownership of tax compliance, managing a broad spectrum of direct and indirect tax matters, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and tax planning across the business and its group companies.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Leading on all Corporation Tax and VAT matters, including returns and forecasting
- Managing capital allowances, R&D claims, and tax provisions (current and deferred)
- Advising on the tax implications of property transactions
- Supporting tax risk management and compliance with the Society’s tax strategy
- Leading and developing a small team of Finance Assistants
- Building strong relationships with HMRC and professional advisors
- Collaborating with wider finance teams to support business decision-making
Qualifications and experience
- Professional qualification in tax (CTA) or accountancy (ACA, ACCA)
- Significant UK experience in Corporation Tax and VAT compliance
- Experience in tax planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and tax accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax/accounting software (e.g. NetSuite)
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach
