Our team makes us who we are. Between us, we have a vast amount of experience working exclusively in Accountancy and Finance recruitment and have helped hundreds of Suffolk and North Essex businesses find just the right people for their teams.
The first thing you’ll notice about MacKenzie King is that we genuinely care about making the right match. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing that we’ve helped a candidate secure that perfect job or found an employer someone who’ll excel in their role. In our experience, this very rarely happens by chance. It takes skill, commitment, great communication, and amongst many other things, passion.

Catherine Vickery
Owner and Director
Catherine is the Owner of MacKenzie King and remains closely involved in recruitment delivery and shaping the full customer journey. She studied CIMA and began her career with five years as a Management Accountant within a FTSE 100 business before transitioning into accountancy and finance recruitment in 2005.
Since entering the recruitment sector, Catherine has played a longstanding and influential role within the accountancy and finance market across the region. Her career includes managing multiple teams throughout Suffolk and leading the Senior Finance Division for the UK’s largest specialist recruiter, where she worked with many of the region’s most respected businesses and senior professionals.
She is firmly committed to a relationship‑driven approach, believing long‑term success comes from genuine partnerships rather than transactional recruitment. Her deep understanding of the local market, combined with her finance and commercial background, allows her to deliver a professional, accurate and high‑quality service built on trust and credibility.
Catherine’s extensive network of professional advisers, candidates and clients ensures she brings both insight and reach to every assignment. She takes great pride in getting to know people properly, tailoring her approach to each individual and organisation to achieve the best outcomes.
Catherine leads the organisation’s pro bono arm with the same care and integrity that defines her recruitment work, connecting highly capable accountants with local charities in need of skilled financial trustees. Drawing on her extensive professional network and deep understanding of the finance sector, she carefully matches individuals whose expertise and values align with each charity’s needs. Catherine works closely with both parties to ensure appointments are well considered and sustainable, helping charities strengthen governance, improve financial oversight and plan with confidence. Her hands‑on involvement reflects her belief in using professional skills to give back locally, creating meaningful, long‑term impact for charities and the communities they support.

She recruits on both a permanent, interim and temporary basis, ensuring every search is handled with discretion, professionalism and attention to detail. Her strong market knowledge and values‑led approach enable her to represent both clients and candidates with credibility and transparency.
Her consistent success and commitment to quality saw her progress naturally into the roles of Recruitment Manager and subsequently Associate Director. Stephanie is highly regarded for her ability to nurture and develop talent, making her an excellent mentor to the team and a trusted leader within the business.
Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys training in the gym for her next personal challenge. She is happiest when spending time with friends, being out in nature or exploring new places with her partner.
"Working at MacKenzie King has been a hugely rewarding experience for me, both professionally and personally. Here, I have the privilege of genuinely impacting people’s careers, with the reassurance that we always act with integrity and put people’s best interests first. I never expected to thrive in a ‘desk job’, but this role is far from that. From meeting candidates in person to getting out on site and seeing how different businesses really work, it’s the variety that I love most."
Ted Smith
Recruitment Specialist
Ted began his career as a Goalkeeper for Southend United and the England Under 18-20 National Team. Since leaving the Professional Sporting Industry, Ted was very eager to find a role where he could focus on helping others, and he soon realised that a career in recruitment would make use of a variety of transferrable skills, including teamwork, decision-making, meeting new people and providing support and encouragement, which brought him to MacKenzie King.
Ted is a true team player, driven to provide a sincere and beneficial service. Ted takes care of our qualified and newly qualified recruitment, both on a temporary and permanent basis. He’s found great pleasure in matching people with their perfect role and working environment, resulting in some wonderful relationships from the onset of his recruitment career.
As well as maintaining his fitness and renovating his new home outside of work, Ted really enjoys spending quality time with his family and Fiancée. He also enjoys coaching goalkeeping to help children really enjoy playing football whilst learning valuable soft skills.
“MacKenzie King is a fantastic place to work. The values of the business and its genuine desire to support both candidates and clients align strongly with my personal values, and that rings true throughout the company. We have a fantastic team of like-minded people who truly care about individuals’ experiences when engaging with us, which is incredibly important to me. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at MacKenzie King so far and am looking forward to helping many more people in the future.”
Ben Dotesio-Eyers
Recruitment Specialist
Ben joined MacKenzie King in 2022, after completing his Degree in Business. With previous experience in recruitment, sales, and customer service, he has found great pleasure in developing relationships with clients and candidates. Ben recruits transactional roles on both a temporary and permanent basis.
Ben enjoys nothing more than meeting new people, learning about them and building lasting connections. In addition to this, his interest in workplace culture and employee engagement at university helps to fuel his drive to facilitate an authentic connection between clients and candidates that in turn leads to successful placements.
Outside of work Ben enjoys all things automotive and is an active member of several local and national groups. When he isn’t in the garage he can usually be found in a country pub relaxing with his partner and two sausage dogs or covered in paint renovating his new home.
"Recruiting at the transactional level gives me the opportunity to help many candidates start their careers in finance, which is something I genuinely love. Whether it’s helping someone secure their first role or taking the next step in their career, helping candidates reach their full potential throughout their career is the most rewarding part of my role."

Stacy Barr
Accountant
Joining MacKenzie King with almost 18 years’ experience in accountancy, Stacy is a perfect addition to our growing team. As a fully qualified accountant (AAT and ACCA), she has just the right experience and knowledge, having worked both in practice and inhouse at several businesses. The thing she enjoys most about her role is that no two days are the same. She enjoys a challenge and is always happy to help!
Outside of work, when she’s not immersed in numbers, she’s quite the creative. As a crafty, we love the keepsakes she makes. Family is really important to Stacy. She loves nothing more than spending time with her husband and three young children. She’s also one for social events and activities. She’ll always be the first one we ask, ‘what did you do this weekend?’. The answer ranges from the horse races, murder mystery parties to escape rooms.
"I love working at MacKenzie King as an Accountant. It’s a friendly place to work, and I enjoy being part of a team that genuinely cares about doing things properly for both our candidates and clients."
