MacKenzie King are supporting an ambitious local business in recruiting a Senior Finance Assistant to join their fast-paced accounts team. As a Senior Finance Assistant you will support customers with accounting transactions, ensuring queries are resolved and transactions are kept in good order, reconciling bank accounts and management of expenses for employees within the business. This is a fantastic opportunity for a forward thinking candidate that thinks about the 'bigger picture', can work off their own initiative and thinks about the 'why' behind queries and issues. 

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Daily management and support of the customer receipt transactions, ensuring all entries are posted on customer account records.
  • Daily management of the bank account records and reconciliation of the various bank accounts, including resolving issues, making postings and corrections as required.
  • Preparation of the bank reconciliation report for month end close and approval of the Financial Accountant.
  • Month end currency revaluation of the bank accounts for approval of the Financial Accountant.
  • Ensuring the customer direct debit collection is on time and accurately calculated and posted onto customer accounts. Ensuring all direct debit notifications are processed and necessary action taken as required.
  • Support with investigating customer queries with cash postings and providing a resolution. This may involve working with other teams across the business or investigating system data.
  • Management and processing of expenses for the business – this is for both reimbursement of personal expenses and accounting for credit card transactions for card holders.
  • Management of credit card holders in terms of starters, movers, and leavers.
  • Preparation of the month end accruals for expenses and credit card transactions.
  • Reconciliation of the credit card control account for statements and payment.
  • Management of the expenses system in terms of starters, movers, and leavers.
  • Performing all duties professionally and in line with documented procedures to ensure all internal and external targets are successfully achieved.
  • Working as a member of the Accounts Receivable team to ensure the sales ledger is always tidy and accurate, closed to deadline each month with all key tasks performed to support management reporting. This will involve being a team player to support all tasks quickly and efficiently within the team and preparation of the month end close with the Assistant Financial Accountant.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Financial Accountant which are in-line with your role to support the Accounts Receivable team and Assistant Financial Accountant.

Qualifications and experience

  • Studying towards AAT is essential
  • Strong Excel skills to include Pivot Tables/VLookups
  • Confident communicator with the ability to challenge where necessary
  • Deadline driven 
  • Experience in a high volume role
  • Team player mentality
