MacKenzie King are recruiting a Senior Finance Assistant for a large organisation, based north of Witham. As a Senior Accounts Assistant you will be responsible for processing and ensuring prompt payment of purchase invoices in accordance with procedures. You will form good relationships with department heads to maintain a good relationship and prompt authorisation of invoices.

Key tasks and responsibilities

To ensure that all invoices are registered and paid to the books in a timely manner
To ensure that invoices are matched to orders (where appropriate) and invoice variances of more than 10% of the order have additional approval
To follow-up queries and check supplier statements
To ensure that all invoices are scanned on the system
To act as a point of contact for invoice queries from Department Heads, staff and suppliers and chase authorisers for approval of invoices
To be responsible and prepare the BACS payment runs for one of the companies, and in the Supervisors absence, the other companies as required. Payments to an individual supplier regularly range from £100K to £500K and the overall BACS run may be up to £1m
To be responsible and prepare the cheque run as required for one of the companies and ensure that all entries are processed in a timely manner
To be responsible and ensure the validity of all payments to be made to the supplier, i.e. that the amendments have been made correctly and that the amount to be paid is correct
Prepare the BACS file for transmission to the Bank
Send out remittances

Qualifications and experience

Broad general transaction process experience in a finance department
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong IT skills
