MacKenzie King are working with a trusted local business located in Felixstowe to recruit a Purchase Ledger Controller on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. The successful Purchase Ledger Controller candidate will support the finance team with management of the accounts payable function, processing invoices, preparing payment runs and performing reconciliations. Other responsibilities could include assistance to collate and produce the company payroll, assisting the sales ledger team along with other ad hoc finance tasks. This role will last for 12 months, providing time to train within the business before the individual finishes for their maternity leave, to ensure that the company processes are followed and the successful candidate is confident in their responsibilities. As an agency MacKenzie King will work to support you throughout the assignment and thereafter.

Duties

  • Process purchase invoices/sub-contractor invoices and ensure they are accurately recorded
  • Set up new purchase ledger accounts
  • Answer purchase ledger queries and emails
  • Raising weekly payment runs for suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Create supplier statements and reconcile to Sage and Excel
  • Create and send postal remittances
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Reconciliation of can/van fuel usage
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal departments to address queries and provide support
  • Uphold excellent phone etiquette when interacting with suppliers
  • Ad-hoc duties as required by the company such as payroll collation, sale ledger support and other tasks

Requirements

  • Already located within a reasonable commuting distance of the business
  • Previous experience in a similar role that include purchase ledger processing
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent clerical skills with a keen eye for detail for accurate data entry
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Experience with Saga Intacct and Truckcom advantageous
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Be able to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal.
