MacKenzie King are proud to be working once again with one of our trusted clients who is looking to recruit two new Senior Payroll Specialists into their successful, growing team. These two new Senior Payroll Specialists will be working to support the business in processing payroll and resolving queries and responding to enquires. The successful candidate will ensure that accurate calculations for deductions, wages and benefits are used and that a high level of accuracy is applied to everything they do. The successful Senior Payroll Specialist candidate will be someone who has recently help a similar position and is able to support more junior members of the team, answering questions and after onboarding needing little training to be up to speed with the rest of the team.  

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies or issues and queries
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process for clients, and workers
  • Ensure that payroll is processed in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Manage the calculation and processing of temporary worker wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits contributions.
  • Prepare, submit and present payroll reports
  • Generate and maintain payroll reports for management
  • Process year-end payroll tax filing in accordance with company policies, tax regulations.
  • Perform regular payroll reconciliations

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure payroll compliance with all relevant legislations and regulations, including tax laws, and benefits administration and good practice.
  • Ensure that all reports are filed accurately and on time.
  • Act as the main point of contact for internal and external audits

 Relationship Management

  • Proactively develop new and existing long-term relationships with designated clients, candidates and other stakeholder groups
  • Ensure all appropriate information is captured and maintained on the appropriate systems
  • Resolve payroll issues in a timely manner liaising with relevant internal teams and departments as required

Record Keeping and Data

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of employee payroll and payment histories.
  • Ensure that payroll data is securely stored
  • Handle sensitive data such as Social Security numbers, tax filings, and payment information with the highest level of confidentiality.

Qualifications and experience

  • Strong working knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Significant experience as a recent Payroll position
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and payroll software
  • Experience with handling and resolving queries
  • Proven significant working experience with payroll software and invoicing systems
  • Working knowledge of payroll legislations and best practices.
