MacKenzie King are working with a well-established and historic business based in Colchester to recruit a Payroll and Operations Co-ordinator to join their team. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Operations to process payroll for a 130-strong team across the business, while also supporting recruitment, onboarding, general admin, and helping keep the office running smoothly.

This is a varied and engaging role where you will enjoy a mix of regular responsibilities and ad hoc tasks to keep each day interesting. We're looking for someone with strong payroll experience, who will be confident running payroll independently once settled in. Training and support will be provided for the broader operations side of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full end-to-end payroll process for 130+ staff
  • Provide support throughout the recruitment process, including listing available vacancies, shortlisting candidates, scheduling interviews, preparation of new starter documentation and onboarding
  • Accurately calculate and process end-to-end payroll for the whole business
  • Manage pension administration processes, including employee enrolments, contributions and communications with pension providers
  • Administer Benefits in Kind
  • Maintain and monitor absence records for both HR and payroll purposes
  • Respond to internal queries relating to HR, payroll, operational and general administrative matters in a timely manner
  • Prepare ad-hoc correspondence and documentation
  • Support day-to-day office operations, including procurement and supply management to ensure smooth office functionality

Essential Skills

  • Experience of managing a full end-to-end payroll process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality – the role will involve exposure to sensitive and confidential information – signing a confidentiality agreement will be required
