MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting an Operations Accountant for a well-established manufacturing business, based near Woolpit. With a strong commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement, the business is investing in its finance function and is seeking an ambitious Operations Accountant to support key manufacturing and operational teams.
As Operations Accountant, you’ll act as a key business partner to production and operational teams, providing financial analysis, reporting and insight to support business performance. You’ll gain a detailed understanding of operational processes and work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure accurate reporting, robust controls and informed decision making.
The role offers a broad remit across inventory management, production performance, cost analysis, energy reporting, budgeting and financial control, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop commercially and operationally within a manufacturing environment.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Ownership of energy cost reporting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Monitoring inventory accuracy, stock risk and working capital performance.
- Analysing production costs, usage variances and operational performance.
- Partnering with site operations and production teams to provide financial insight and challenge.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and monthly management reporting.
- Driving continuous improvement across reporting, controls and business processes.
- Supporting year-end audit requirements and maintaining robust financial controls.
Qualifications and experience
- Part-qualified or Newly qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA
- Strong grounding in management accounting and financial analysis
- Experience of working with large datasets and reconciling information from different sources.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence manipulating and analysing financial and operational data.
- Demonstrable ability to investigate variances and identify the underlying drivers behind financial results.
- Experience of ERP and business intelligence/reporting systems.
- Have a strong eye for detail, while retaining the ability to see the wider commercial and operational picture.
- Be naturally inquisitive and prepared to ask “why?”, rather than simply reporting what has happened.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns, anomalies and underlying causes.
- Take ownership of issues and follow them through to resolution.
- Have a continuous improvement mindset, actively looking for ways to improve processes, controls and information.
