MacKenzie King are working with a well established business based in Ipswich, to recruit a Management Accountant on a 3-6 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to support the business through a busy period, taking ownership of the management accounts process and providing meaningful financial insight to support decision-making

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce monthly management accounts with supporting analysis and commentary
  • Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
  • Produce weekly and monthly financial reporting packs for senior management
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
  • Monitor cash flow and support cashflow forecasting
  • Maintain data accuracy across financial systems and reporting platforms
  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with financial controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve business results
  • Review financial processes and controls to ensure efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications and experience

  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Proven experience preparing management accounts within a commercial environment
  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Confident user of Excel and accounting systems
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Proactive, reliable, and solution-focused approach
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
  • Able to provide commercial insight and challenge where appropriate
