MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Head of Accounts Payable & Expenses to join a fast growth and well supported start-up business to lead and build a first-class Accounts Payable and Employee Expenses function. As the Head of AP & Expenses you will join the business at a transformative moment and play a key role in establishing a function that is equipped to support scalable growth and efficiency. To be successful in this role you will be hands-on with a background in leading Accounts Payable and Expense functions.

Duties & Responsibilities to include:

  • Work within the Finance leadership team to assist with the implementation of an accounts payable and personal expense system to meet short term and medium-term needs of the business.
  • Oversee the entire accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, approval, and payment.
  • Ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely resolution of payment discrepancies or disputes.
  • Review and approve payments, ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies.
  • Ensure that payments are made according to established payment terms to avoid late fees and optimize cash flow
  • Oversee the entire personal expenses payable process, including receipting, approval, and payment.
  • Manage approval process, ensuring compliance with local regulations including tax, internal controls and policies.
  • Support with annual audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to the AP function.
  • Proactively seek and respond to opportunities to leverage technology to deliver improved financial controls, service and operational efficiency.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Proven experience of establishing AP/Expense processes from scratch
  • Experience implementing ERP software – Workday would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, both internal and external
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills — ability to work cross-functionally at all levels

This role offers hybrid working - 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home. There will also be a requirement to travel to the Ipswich office once per week.
