MacKenzie King are working with an exciting and forward-thinking business in Braintree, to recruit a strong Finance Assistant to join their team. Our client is seeking someone who can work independently as well as closely with the Finance Director during a period of growth and change, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of transactional accounts.
The successful candidate will be a solution focused, self-motivated individual with a desire to learn, develop and progress within the business, building on their solid transactional finance experience. With the organisation undergoing growth and change, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience across a broad range of accounting processes.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Responsible for daily financial transactions
- Using financial systems, both paper based and digital to ensure accurate correlation
- Dealing with departmental and third-party queries in relation to financial issues
- Upload purchase ledger invoices on to Xero
- Process purchase ledger payments
- Reconcile bank statements
- Review expenses and ensure each item is coded correctly
- Administrative duties relevant to ensure the appropriate service level
- Usage of Connecteam to verify working hours and to complete Customer Timesheets
Qualifications and experience
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Organised, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Discreet and professional when handling sensitive information
- Working towards AAT qualification or similar
- Experience within a construction or engineering environment
