Finance Assistant - Purchase Ledger

MacKenzie King are working with a respected local business in Ipswich to recruit a Finance Assistant into their team. The Finance Assistant is responsible for the Purchase Ledger as well as assisting the Finance Manager with various administrative duties and to assist with the preparation of financial reports, as well as other duties related to the Finance department. This role would suit a Finance Assistant who has a high attention to detail and likes to take ownership of a role.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Ownership and monitoring of the purchase ledger inbox.
  • Control of incoming post, scanning and distributing to the correct individual.
  • Preparation of the weekly and monthly payment runs along with providing monthly payment run projections.
  • Processing invoices on our OCR (DEXT) system, along with raising PO’s when required.
  • Dealing with supplier queries.
  • Raising self-bills & supplier statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of KPI’s and key business analysis.
  • Assist with the maintenance of key accounting software.
  • Weekly reconciliation of agency payroll.
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests from directors or senior management.
  • Cover sales ledger and payroll for leave and holidays.

Qualifications and experience

  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Dynamic problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Has begun Level 2 AAT (or similar qualification) or higher, alternatively has experience operating as a part of a finance team.
  • Familiar with Sage 50 and Xero preferable.
