MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant on a 3-month assignment for a well‑established manufacturing company based in the Stowmarket area. The role will support commercial and operational finance activities, with a strong focus on data analysis, reporting and margin review to support decision‑making across the business.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Pull data from finance and operational systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Analyse and reconcile data prior to reporting, ensuring figures align with finance records
- Prepare and distribute regular reports for internal stakeholders
- Perform detailed Excel analysis, including lookups, reconciliations and variance analysis
- Investigate unexpected results or variances and follow through to resolution
- Complete transactional processing to support accurate reporting and analysis
- Support business partnering activity across commercial, operations and project accounting teams
- Produce freight, customer and margin analysis to support commercial decision-making
- Assist with margin investigations and performance monitoring
- Act as a point of finance support for data and reporting queries
- Contribute to ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests as required
Qualifications and experience
- AAT qualified or equivalent experience in a finance or analytical role
- Strong experience working with large datasets and reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables and data analysis
- Experience pulling, analysing and validating financial or operational data
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues independently
- Experience supporting commercial or operational teams with financial insight
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and self-review
- Good communication skills, able to explain financial information clearly
- Experience working with accounting systems
- A proactive, organised and collaborative approach
