Assistant Management Accountant

MacKenzie King are excited to be working with on of our trusted clients to add a new Assistant Management Accountant role to their developing team based in the centre of Ipswich. The successful Assistant Management Accountant candidate will join their established team to play a key role in producing the monthly management accounts and supporting the wider finance team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant who is studying towards their professional qualification to gain some experience in a successful team working in an award-winning business.

Key responsibilities 

• Review overheads for month end accounts to ensure accurate accruals and prepayments
• Monthly purchase ledger reviews
• Sales and margin report analysis
• Support junior members of the finance team and review their work where necessary
• Maintain and improve where necessary monthly balance sheet reconciliation schedules
• Assist with month end management accounts preparation for senior management accountant review
• Play an important role in the year-end audit
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for submission to the bank
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns
• Active involvement in budgeting process
• Any other ad-hoc duties as deemed to be appropriate to the role

About you

• Part qualified AAT, or equivalent by experience
• Be actively studying towards accountancy qualification
• Knowledge of accounting software packages
• Understanding of Sage Intacct or willing to learn
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on self-review
• Strong numeracy, analytical and literacy skills
• Good teamwork, problem solving and organisation skills
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach
