MacKenzie King are working with an award-winning business based in the centre of Ipswich to help support their team and recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant. For the successfully candidate this role would be a fantastic opportunity to develop and grow into the role, having the opportunity to learn and gain experience in a lot of new areas of finance. As the Assistant Financial Accountant play a key part in the department working on projects as well as daily and monthly tasks such as reconciliations, accruals, fleet asset accounting and audit. The key responsibilities below are how the role would be after the Assistant Finance Accountant was fully trained, however experience of any element would be advantageous.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for stewardship of designated balance sheets areas across all legal entities
  • Support the Financial Reporting Manager with financial statements by producing accurate working papers and supporting disclosures
  • Support the Financial Reporting Manager with audit queries relating to assigned balance sheet areas and processes. Develop relationships with external audit team and ensure the time deliverable of audit requests.
  • Responsible for central finance processes (including fixed assets, lease accounting, prepayments etc), processing of financial transactions, reporting of related p/l and balance sheet, ensure control
  • Continuously review and develop processes in order to achieve efficiencies whilst enhancing quality of output
  • Responsible for accurate completion and submission of govt and tax related returns, including VAT, ONS, CIS and PSA
  • Work alongside and support the Financial Reporting Manager with financial matters as they arise
  • Support technological enhancements and implementations to improve financial information and minimise risk.
  • Support the Financial Reporting Manager and assist with tasks ensuring compliance with internal risk and control
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders across the business, enhancing operations knowledge which will support the improvement of internal finance processes
  • Review all new vendor requests, ensuring compliance with internal control framework. Create new vendor master data in a timely manner to support business continuity and enables accurate financial reporting
  • Review all new customer requests, ensuring compliance with internal control framework. Create new customer master data in a timely manner to support business continuity and enables financial reporting
  • Responsible for fixed asset and lease accounting master data. Review to ensure compliant with internal accounting policies and financial accounting standards.
  • Responsible for statutory hierarchies and chart of accounts. Including the creation of new GL Accounts, ensuring any changes does not jeopardise integrity of financial and management accounting
  • Responsible for all financial dimensions held within Dynamics, including the creation new requested dimensions, ensuring any changes do not jeopardise integrity of financial and management accounting
  • Implement controls that are compliant with the internal risk and control framework
  • Support the Financial Reporting Manager and assist with tasks ensuring compliance with internal risk and control
  • With support of Financial Reporting Manager, implement a controlled process of change in respect to Master Data
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders across the business, enhancing operations knowledge which will support the improvement of internal finance processes

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics
  • Experience of SAP systems
  • Financial reporting
  • Part qualified AAT
