MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting an Accounts Senior for a well-respected Accountancy Practice with flexibility to work in either of their Colchester or Ipswich offices. As an Accounts Senior, you will work within a small team managing a portfolio of clients. This role will be suited to someone with previous experience manager their own portfolio of clients, who takes pride in their attention to detail. The client is open to the right candidate working on a Full Time or Part Time basis

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • To be a leader in digital adoption, strategy, and implementation
  • Management of a portfolio of clients covering partnerships, limited companies and stand alone tax returns, reporting directly to the partner, with a focus on delivering great client service.
  • Assist with work planning across the team.
  • Working within budgets and time frames set.
  • Involvement in the recruitment and development of staff, including talent reviews, people management, supervision and training etc
  • Developing the team to ensure long term capability, utilising necessary leadership and management skills, challenging those who are inconsistent with firms’ values.
  • Ensuring accounts quality is met and continually developed in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Carrying out and reviewing accounting and tax work carried out by others, including complex special work.
  • Embrace the Firm’s vision, mission and values and translate these into day-to-day actions to lead and develop others.
  • Ensuring the efficient use of appropriate software packages internally and supporting clients’ accounting systems.
  • Acting as a mentor for trainees.
  • Applicants must be willing to travel to other offices in East Anglia when needed.

Qualifications and experience

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA) or suitably qualified by experience
  • Ability to manage a client portfolio
  • Post qualified experience within practice
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadline and priorities.
  • Experience of reviewing accounts and tax returns, and providing feedback to member of staff.
  • Cloud software product knowledge and previous experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of NHS Funding and experience of reviewing GP practice accounts.
  • Experience of preparing and reviewing annual superannuation certificates for GP clients.
  • Have an understanding of NHS pension and associated tax legislation is desirable.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills.
  • Ability to network and develop contacts.
  • Be proactive in identifying practical solutions to internal and client issues.
