MacKenzie King are delighted to be partnering once again with a long standing and trusted client to support the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant on a six-month fixed term contract.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous experience in a similar role and a strong grounding in transactional finance. You will be confident with tasks such as bank reconciliations, cashflow reporting, invoice processing and preparing and completing payment runs. The role suits someone who enjoys working independently while also contributing positively to the wider team. You will play an active part in supporting colleagues and helping with shared responsibilities across the group.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Complete daily and weekly bank reconciliations
  • Allocate sales receipts and prepare supporting reconciliations
  • Daily and weekly cashflow reports.
  • Process employee expenses and petty cash.
  • Processing of supplier invoices
  • Supplier statement reconciliations and assist with aged‑creditor cleanup activities.
  • Bi‑weekly payment runs
  • Update supplier records
  • Triage the central Accounts inbox (emails).
  • Checking sales orders prior to invoice conversion (multi‑currency and VAT awareness required).
  • Download system reports and prepare basic journals (routine reclassification) using templates.
  • Investigate variances and discrepancies within control‑account balances on request.
  • Assist with month‑end analysis for specific accounts when required.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience of working as part of an Finance team
  • Experience of creating and maintaining SOPs
  • Good Excel capability (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc)
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Pro-active & flexible individual with the ability to work to timetables and meet deadlines
