MacKenzie King are recruiting an Accounts Assistant for a business based on the outskirts of Ipswich town centre that has experienced a strong period of growth. As an Accounts Assistant you will support their already established and successful finance function. In this Accounts Assistant role you will manage the 60-employee strong weekly payroll from end-toend, as well as a number of other key finance functions. Key tasks and responsibilities

Payroll:

  • Process Payroll from weekly time sheets
  • Raise BACS to pay
  • Record holiday/obtain approval
  • Record absence
  • Deduct Child Maintenance and any other deduction of earnings
  • Calculate and analyse Average Weekly Wages
  • Pension payments report
  • Update employee records
  • Record employee loans
  • Wage analysis and entering costings to allocate costs to jobs

Subcontractors:

  • Process invoices and payment certificates through the system
  • Apply Reverse Charge VAT & CIS deductions where applicable
  • Collate weekly payment runs and issue to Directors for approval
  • Process BACS batch payment
  • Email subcontractors payment certificates and monthly CIS statements to support remittances

General Accounting: 

  • Set up new Suppliers on the system
  • Set up new Customers on the system
  • Set up new jobs in and update job list
  • Change/amend bank details as necessary
  • Check off and post monthly supplier invoices
  • Raise ad hoc bank payments
  • Petty Cash - reconcile, analyse & journal

Monthly supplier runs:

  • Run reports to check all invoices received and logged
  • Produce list of potential suppliers to pay
  • Allocate invoices to be paid against supplier
  • Raise BACS to pay suppliers
  • Email remittance advices
  • Print, obtain job numbers and approval

Qualifications and experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in a finance function
  • Payroll experience would be desirable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well as a part of a team
