Mackenzie King are recruiting an Senior Accounts Assistant for a fast-growing Ipswich based business. The successful Senior Accounts Assistant candidate should have experience of purchase ledgers, sales ledgers and stock control systems. Be comfortable working with Sage Business Cloud Accounting software and working closely with the Management Accountant. A Senior Accounts Assistant who has completed their AAT qualification would be preferred however qualification by experience is also acceptable. This role is perfect for a Senior Accounts Assistant wanting to take ownership of a role and play a key supportive role in the team.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices, reconciling delivery notes to invoices received and purchase orders
- Set up new supplier/customer accounts and maintain existing account details within the purchase ledger
- Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements
- Payment Runs
- Process business expense returns, petty cash/ credit card
- Cashbook/daily updates and monthly bank reconciliation and credit cards reconciliation
- Payment allocations on to sage, with precision and recording retention deductions
- Ensure sales invoices are recorded on Sage correctly
- Maintain retention schedule
- Credit control
- Assist in CIS payments and monthly return
- Assist in quarterly VAT return
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Assist in developing procedures and checklists to support all accounting routines
- Assist in aged debtors and creditors controls
- Possible payroll processing on Sage payroll
- Other ad hoc duties
Qualifications and experience
- AAT Qualified or qualified by experience
- Proven skills in Microsoft Office 365
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility and task prioritisation skills
- Great interpersonal and communications skills
- Self-discipline and able to work on own initiative
- Good team working skills
- The ability to work to monthly deadlines
