MacKenzie King are excited to be supporting our valued client, Javelin, in recruiting a Bookkeeper to join their team. Javelin have been proudly trading as an independent retailer for over 30 years and as an experienced Bookkeeper you will have the ability to make a real impact to the efficient running of a well-established and reputable family run business. As a Bookkeeper you will cover all aspects of the finance function, providing timely and accurate financial support to the senior team. You will need to adopt a hands on working style to be able to adapt and work in an ever-changing, fast paced environment.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Purchase invoice processing, matching and payments
  • Reconciliations - Credit card, Bank, Sales
  • Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly sales and margin reporting
  • Monthly and quarterly management accounts - close and preparation to review stage
  • Monthly payroll (checking and validation)
  • Quarterly VAT return (checking and filing)
  • Periodic stock checks (scheduling, managing the count & reporting)
  • Additional bookkeeping duties as designated by management

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience as a Bookkeeper who has proven ability to maintain the company’s financial transactions.
  • Previous experience in a retail/stock environment.
  • A creative and flexible working approach with a good mix of initiative, teamwork and a “can do” attitude.
  • AAT qualified would be preferrable, but also part qualified and qualified by experience will be considered.
  • Great attention to detail and an inquisitive nature to ask how and why things are done
  • Xero & Shopify experience would be preferrable but not essential.
  • Good interpersonal skills are a must as you will need to explain numbers and trends to Non-Finance Managers
