 Finance Assistant / Purchase Ledger Assistant (12 month FTC)

MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Finance Assistant / Purchase Ledger Assistant for a well established independent organisation, based in Harwich the role will have the flexibility of a hybrid working pattern.. Reporting in to the Financial Controller, you will be an active part of the finance team, providing comprehensive financial support services across the whole of the business. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, and experience of working with accounts software packages.

Responsibilities 

  • Maintain Purchase Ledger
  • Maintain the register of purchase orders and supplier invoices
  • Payment of supplier invoices, data input, running payments and pricing goods received notes
  • Prepare documentation needed for month-end reconciliation
  • Undertake account reconciliations month-end procedures
  • Analyse Invoiced costs to nominal ledger cost centres
  • Support the updating and reconciliation of stocks and stores records to accounting system
  • Provide cover for Sales Ledger Accounts Assistant by undertaking activities including maintaining shipping daily records, credit/invoicing, credit control, cash batching and month-end processing
  • Assist with other duties including bank reconciliations, bank payments, cash book entries, nominal postings, report writing, petty cash and general account reconciliations
  • Undertake other such duties as required by the Financial Controller

Candidate Requirements 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet time critical deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Proactive approach to work and ability to manage own workload
  • Accounting experience gained from a similar environment in processing sales, purchase ledger and general accounts activities
  • Experience of working with accounts software, knowledge of Access or Dimensions software would be advantageous
